Tech Stocks and Wifi

I was looking at some tech stocks on a computer, seeing how each were performing relative to the others during a boom cycle. An Indian guy came up and asked me if I thought those numbers were a realistic indicator of actual market growth.

“No, these numbers are often very disconnected from reality. Do you think company x, y, and z are actually producing hundreds of billions in value? It’s a lot of hype.”

Racetrack

I was standing on the side of a racetrack while a bunch of fancy, high-end sports cars were jumbling all together around a corner, trying to get by. The jam got so bad, they started to spill over to where I was standing, and I even had to jump on top of the cars as they jostled for a way through the pack.

Not much recall today, but it’s something.

Sandman Campus Security

Another trying to leave university dream. This is recall from waking up very early AM, so I’m getting better:

I was in what was ostensibly my dorm room, but it looked more like my grandparent’s living room. There was so much stuff to pack and get rid of. Drawers full of junk. Appliances. I complained to my brother who was visiting me:

“I’ve gotta sell that sewing machine, the HiFi, couch… and then throw out everything else. So much shit to sort through in just two months.”

Sad House in the Clouds

My uncle had just moved into a new house up on a New England mountain. I was helping to install some sort of technology as they were getting unpacked. My cousin was really upset about the AC blowing in his face on the way up there. It was a very cloudy, kinda socked-in day outside and my uncle commented: “Oh, what a terrible view.”

I thought it looked nice, with all the green mountains nestled amongst the low cloud-cover.

I was shopping at my local corner store. It was bigger than the real one. They sold machines that would prepare beverages. I wanted to buy one, but I couldn’t quite figure out what it was supposed to do. The box was busted on one side. It came with a nice mug. I ended up putting the machine back since I couldn’t figure it out.

I went to the checkout with my few little food items. They were trying to close the store. It was night. A young woman was at the register. She tried to strike up a conversation with me, being all nice. She mentioned that she was 18 years old.

University Great Halls

This was the kind of morning where I could’ve just kept on dreaming and dreaming.

I was back at university. (Of course.) Trying to help a friend convert some 3D models and scenes into assets he could use. I remember one of them was a big city with geometrically-shaped buildings everywhere. I would scan through them with my phone and navigate the interface like it was Google Sky.

Another friend of mine showed up and he was dressed in drag. I wasn’t very happy about this and wanted to tell him to cut it out.

Getting a Mouthful

I was on a movie set. Not working on the film, but just visiting. Catherine was working on the movie. I believe she was either the script girl, or the assistant director - probably wearing multiple hats for the smaller production.

I was sitting on the floor in a hallway lit by overhead fluorescent lighting. She stood next to me on my left.

“Are you keeping track of continuity?” I asked in a warning tone. “You’ve gotta at least keep some scratch notes of all the wardrobe changes and whatnot.”
