Tech Stocks and Wifi
I was looking at some tech stocks on a computer, seeing how each were performing relative to the others during a boom cycle. An Indian guy came up and asked me if I thought those numbers were a realistic indicator of actual market growth.
“No, these numbers are often very disconnected from reality. Do you think company x, y, and z are actually producing hundreds of billions in value? It’s a lot of hype.”
Then I started talking with him about an inevitable correction. I mentioned the possibility of machine-learning-based technology not living up to expectations and tanking the market.
“No, no, no. AI will never fail.” The Indian man said.
“Yeah, of course you don’t want THAT to fail, because it’s your last hope.” I replied.
Then I remember a bunch of people being over at my house for a party. I was concerned about our WIFI router being too old.
